About me

My name is Gulshan Rokzad and I am 39 years old. I was born in northern Iraq (Darbahndikan). Because of the situation in Iraq, we came to Germany with my family in 1995 and I was in the 6th grade of elementary school. I successfully completed my secondary school leaving certificate in 2002. This was followed by various internships and worked in different jobs. I successfully completed a two-year professional training course at the fashion school in Nuremberg in 2015.
In the full-time training I learned design, construction and color theory. I have been very good at painting since elementary school and my art teachers were convinced that I could draw and paint. This is how I developed my passion for art. When I was young, I was busy with sketches and drawings in order to have a spatial imagination. For 2 years I have been painting with acrylic on medium and large canvases and I keep challenging myself. Over the years I have discovered my own art style: Impressionist painting. I take my time with my works and paint layer by layer. My works show my thoughts and my emotional states, as well as memories. The special memories and moments, as well as memories from my home in northern Iraq. My hand is moved by my emotions while painting. In my works I also show a relief and a way out or the achieved goal of having arrived. Each of the works has a story to tell.
